During his speech, H.E. Mr. Aboubaker Omar Hadi, Chairman of the Ports and Free Zones Authority and also Chairman of the Board of Directors of Djibouti Ports Corridor Road SA (DPCR SA), emphasized the importance of the corridor roads for the Ports of Djibouti and for the economic and commercial integration between Djibouti and Ethiopia.

“A developed road corridor network is an essential integration tool for creating interconnected infrastructures that promote national and regional business dynamism and the emergence of new activities” – Chairman.

He also added that “over 1,500 trucks use National Road 1 daily, coming from or going to Ethiopia”. At the same time, the chairman stated that more than “one million tons of humanitarian aid have been transported via our corridor roads, mainly the RN1”.

Correspondingly, the project will significantly cut transport costs, increase accessibility to medical evacuations and supplies, while also allowing the emergence of job and wealth-generating activities.
